The Arzhela Campaign
Mazra is also known as the City Above, as it sits on all the surface of and inside the Arch of Kerspotis, a massive structure that connects the Island Pimarstere and the Island Mawhidu.
The city itself is the only one of the Scarran League to outlaw slavery. In Mazra each man is free, and any has the right and capability to rise from the lowest level of the Guts, to as high as the Hanging District.
While Mazra may be more free than other cities its classes are much more stratified, being separated by physical barriers. On top of the Arch sits the middle district of the city, a place for any person who earns their own keep. Known as the Sprawl, this portion of the city extends from the highest point of the arch down to the sides where people make sideways homes and travel by a complex system of pulleys, until one reaches the Hanging District. Across the Arch one can find any number of spots where the gravity changes to be relative to the Arch rather than the Earth below. The Hanging District is one such hot spot, and it is this shift in the gravity that separates it from the Sprawl. Only the affluent, whether of old blood or self-made, live in the Hanging District. On the inside of the Arch, in the Guts, one finds a much different city. Here live not men who make their means by any honest work, but those who pray on travelers from the Sprawl above to the Hanging District, and those who loot the ruins of the ancients. While some look down on such practices, many of the self-made are those who came across a valuable artifact from days past and some of the old blood even hire teams of Guts natives to harvest from the maze within for them. While the Guts are sometimes recognized as a part of the city, the truth is that this district is as much a frontier as the Mawhidu forest, rumored to be full of strange creatures and even stranger technologies. Only the brave, stupid, and desperate crawl deep in the Guts.
